St. Joseph Parish Council Meeting

- Prayer
- Distribution of minutes. Minutes approved.
- Updates: Fr. McGuinness
- Second General Planning meeting was well attended.
- New sound system acquired for church building.
- Catholic Center issue is in the hands of the diocese.
- St. Joseph School is a parish school.
- Sacristy improvements: Sue Gearhart will research prices for 3 new chairs. Also need a new wedding/unity candle.
- Large crucifix relocation pending
- Old Business
- Elections
- Names are yet to be announced due to ballots that are not yet counted.
- It is agreed here that it is the role of the Nominating Committee to decide ‘criteria’ as needed for choosing a well balanced slate of candidates to be listed on ballot when an unusual number of nominations are received.
- Housekeeping person for rectory should be considered with new budget
- Office workers: Veronica is essentially managing the office alone (due to Morry Chapple’s illness). She is periodically assisted by a few volunteers.
- Reports
- Communication: website reflects updating, next committee meeting is April 27, 2004
- Maintenance: Doug Paustin is new chairperson, committee continues to collect estimates on needed work and repairs.
- Planning Team: info will continue to be posted in the church vestibule on the bulletin board, as well as on the website, and periodically in the church bulletin.
- Stewardship: several members attended the diocesan conference on March 27th, the first meeting is scheduled for May 6th.
- Conflicts with scheduling and lack of communication continue as noticed with recent overlap of events (Saturday, April24th: Yard Sale by Project Healthy Grandparents for Safe & Stable Families, School facilities and grounds cleanup, funeral, city biking event).

- Chet Malanoski’s agenda item suggestions.
- Mike will extend ‘Thank You" to Planning Team
- Suggestion made by Jim Almiller for ministry leaders to prepare a journal type ‘turn-over’ file to serve as a procedure manual and calendar for incoming ministry leaders.
- Next meeting scheduled for Sunday, May 9th at 7:15pm, (Mother’s Day)
